Now I realize a lot of you are probably confused by that title. Chances are you're waiting for the punch line of some anti-male joke (Men are great AT...insert derogatory male stereotype here). Nope, that's it. There isn't any more to it. I figured with the enormous amount of time and energy devoted to pointing out all the flaws of man, it would be nice to devote a bit of time appreciating them...even if it is only a couple of paragraphs in my blog. There are certain pictures that make me cry every time I see them. I'm referring to pictures of men, great men, doing what great men have done since the beginning of time...sacrificing all for the greater good. I'm talking about pictures of soldiers, giving their lives to protect us, pictures of firefighters on 9-11, pushing their way UP into the towers, going to their doom in order to save lives. How many times have men faced death in protection of their countries, their homes, their families? How many men have worked at thankless jobs, never complaining, never questioning, in order to provide for their families? Now, I'm not implying that this is what men should be doing...sacrificing themselves. I'm saying that, right, wrong or otherwise, this is what men always have done and continue to do, and the very least we should do is recognize and show appreciation for that fact.
To put it simply, I love men, and not in a 'I like to sleep around and men are great in that capacity' way, either. I love and celebrate all the wonderfully unique traits and characteristics that are distinctly male. Now, I could expand upon all the contributions men have made to the world, but I won't, I don't have enough room on my blog, or enough time. Suffice it to say that due to the minds and accomplishments of men, the world has benefitted more than can be conveyed. What I will take time to do is acknowledge some of the little things, the things that tend to be taken for granted and go unnoticed. I know for a fact that if anything gross, disgusting or dirty has to be done, my husband, no questions asked, is going to do it. There's never an argument over who's going to go outside and shovel the driveway or who's going to change the oil, or the tire. I can guarantee if anybody ever needed to kill anything or venture into a potentially spider infested crawl space, it wouldn't be me. Not because I'd refuse....I'd never have to. If there's anything repugnant to be done, my husband does it. I have at times volunteered, because I know he'd never ask me to, but he says no. Not because he want to do it, but because he takes care of and protects his wife and children, self-sacrificing in the way that man have done for ages. So I say "thank you" to all the men who quietly go about their lives, unappreciatedly sacrificing for those around them. Thank you for all that you are and all that you do. I want you to know that although your are grossly underappreciated, you're not completely unappreciated.

It is easy to see why you are still married!
Thanks for this.
@ hawaiian libertarian
Thank you. I consider my marriage and family my highest priority and greatest achievement.
@ egghead
You're welcome...it's long overdue.
I nominate Kim to be declared a "Proverbs 31 Wife." You are exceptional and rare beyond telling. Your husband is greatly blessed.
@Viking
Thank you. I love Proverbs 31. Although I have to say, I don't view myself as extraordinary. It SHOULD be commonplace to give recognition and honor where it's due. Showing appreciation for men, husbands and fathers should never have become a novelty.
Quick! Mark your calendars! A woman has said THANK YOU! On this day of our lord.....
...and THANK YOU KIM! for saying it.
TMOTS
Good grief, Kim. Praising and thanking men? Such breathtaking political incorrectness! You have definitely stepped way over the borderline into heresy. Please warn feminists not to read your blog, it will probably give them a heart attack. No, wait. On second thoughts, please DON'T warn feminists not to read it...
You go straight to the top of my list of "women who get it". Sadly though, it's still a very short list. How on earth did you manage to wade your way through all the institutionalised misandry that has surrounded you all your life, and still cling on to the idea that "men are great"? Were you a rebel at school, determined to believe the opposite of what you were being taught? How have you managed to reject the messages from news outlets, magazines, TV shows, advertising billboards, song lyrics and political speeches, all trying to tell you that men are not worth wasting your time on?
I think I am going to have to go and lie down. This is too much to take...

Well, I was lucky. I was raised in an environment where men are really honored and respected. Growing up I was always a humanitarian, championing the cause of anyone who wasn't treated with the dignity and respect a human being deserves. I've also always detested stereotypes. Every human being is unique, you can't possibly judge an entire group of individuals by the actions of a few. Anyone who believes this is automatically at odds with feminism. Anyone who supports the human cause is at odds with feminsim. In order to support feminism, you have to be able to disregard the worth of half the population, based upon gender....I've never been able to do that. I think, anyone who really looks at the situation, and who really cares about the treatment of people, ALL people, would have to be blind not to see the wrongs.
Thanks Kim. Of course you are spot on. It's not difficult to see through the glaring fallacies, is it?
But this leaves just one obvious question: if it is soo easy to see, why can others not see it? It should not have to depend on "luck"!
And when you consider the blind include the vast majority of politicians, manufacturers and advertisers, chat show hosts, media reporters and editors, journalists, commentators of every ilk and apparently also a sizeable proportion of both the female and male (oh yes!) populations of the leading countries on the planet, you have to ask where this collective insanity comes from...is it some kind of biological imperative? Or is the human race a deal more stupid and gullible than we give it credit for?

I'm going for option B. I honestly think that many people would 'awaken' to the situation if confronted with it (hence the reason I write this blog). The fact is, although I always appreciated and respected men, and never bought into feminist concepts, it wasn't until I had it pointed out to me that I realized there was an actual attack going on against all that was masculine. I think there are good people out there, that, if they realized what was really going on, would take definite issue with the matter. Unfortunately, people tend to be so wrapped up in their own world and their own reality, they often go about oblivious to things that they would otherwise object to.
It's people like you who make me want to be a better man. Thank you.
Thank you very much
this made me cry, its so refreshing to be reminded that there are still some women out there that see men as human beings without hating them.
thank you so much
Lovely
Thanks Kim

This post is absolutely beautiful. As a lady, I am always shocked to hear people talking about how women are mistreated and taken for granted by men, but what I see is totally different.
I have been referred to as a misogynist and a woman-hater because I see things as they are involving men and women, and because like you, I appreciate the men in my life.
I am comfortable submitting to the man I love because I know that he will take care of me and do what is right for me. I appreciate everything he is every day. People are envious of our relationship and say we're lucky, but we aren't. We both make an effort to treat each other with respect, which we've earned from each other, not demanded, and we treat each other with the utmost fairness and love.
It is nice to read your posts, and to see that there are women out there like me who love men, not just sexually, like you said, but for the giving, caring people that they are. It is also nice to not be the only member of my gender who sees the unfairness men are subjected to by feminism. Thank you. I felt teary-eyed thinking of all the things that men do for us, and for humankind in general.
I'm sure my love would enjoy reading this as much as I have. I can't thank you enough for your honesty and bravery in saying the things you say. You are not afraid to see things for how they really are, which is rare in this day and age.
Hear hear. I am woman who is relieved to hear another woman who wants to and enjoys praising men!
I would love to see whatever you might be inspired to write in your blog about ways we women who feel the way you do about men and gently (or I should say successfully) help guide our sisters back to the Light in re this. My own sister (who I did not grow up with) treats her wonderful husband with so much criticism, demands and disdain that I seriously cringe and wonder why he stays with her (and I think it is because of the children). Yet I have never said anything to my sister about it because the straightforward approach, I know, would be met with defensiveness and heavy artillery.
I would also like to say that not ALL women are male-bashing feminists; however they are the loudest and may be in the majority these days.
I can't quite understand how this whole thing every came to be either. I wish I could understand that, because maybe then I would be better at communicating with those who are imprisoned in such destructive emotions and concepts.
Thank you so much for this wonderful post! How refreshing to find another lady who also appreciates men. I have always loved and respected men and have never bought into the feminist's agenda. I was beginning to think I was alone in the way I thought. So many women today seem to want to put men down or control them, which to me is totally unnatural and counter-productive. I was brought up when the gender roles were very strong; men were men, women were women and men were respected. And it was far far better as far as I'm concerned. (And I thank God to have grown up in such an environment because it gave children a sense of security) I have always hated feminism with a passion. I believe it is direct rebellion against God, goes completely against God's will and purpose and has done a great disservice to men, women and children. So once again, thank you for this lovely post in celebration of men! I too say here here!
Thank you Kim.
I really needed to see this. :)
This is really wonderful. Simple acts of appreciation such as these go a long way in a society that encourages people to remain silent and ungrateful. Thank you so much! =)
It's very rare to come across people like you, really, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you for what you are doing, and what you are standing up for. As long as there are Women like you, on this planet, there's still SOME hope.
I read this particular post a long time ago, and today, I read something on the internet that made my blood boil, and I wanted to show it to you as well ... here's the link ...
http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/huston/080711
Now ... the thing is, street level work, is usually performed 99% of the time by Men ... it's a fact. It's this kind of work that brought about the expression - " That's a Man's job ... " - even in this the heyday of feminism, I'm sure you'll find that the actual percentage of women present in this kind of work, is a very small percentage of the entire work force - so why the hell they should they remove the MEN AT WORK signs ? Are they not pointing out a certain area on the road, or the street, where MEN are working ? Primarily and largely MEN ?? Very honestly, if hypothetically all MEN everywhere were to put down their tools and refuse to do that work, would the miniscule number of Women that would remain on this particular type of workshop be able to complete the work ? Or, would they find enough women to replace the Men, AND DO THE WORK JUST AS WELL ??? I think the answer to both questions would be a resounding NO - these MEN AT WORK signs are usually used at construction sites, repair sites and the like - the reason WHY there are 99% men at in these situations is that because this kind of work, is IN FACT a MAN'S job, and will, even if feminism should ( heaven forbid ) survive for a 1000 years, still be done by MEN.
How dare this woman disrespect Men in this way - shame on her, and shame on the government of Georgia for abetting her, and allowing her to get away with it.

Dear Kim,
I'm sorry there are things your husband won't let you do. Know in your heart that your capable of anything!
Kim, I really appreciate the fact that there are a few decent women like you that appreciate the contributions of men in our society, but I think that you, and many other MRAs don't seem to realize something. All you are doing is celebrating the things that men have always done with or without thanks. The great sin of feminism is that it "liberated" women while it continued to allow men to wallow in the misery of their natural gender role, only being allowed to get whatever superfluous pleasures the latter would allow. Then, it imposed the female idea of femininity on men, not realizing that men may have their own style of "femininity" - their own ANIMA, that is different from that of the female (if you wonder where this anima is manifested, just look at hard rock/heavy metal, and rock in general. That is men being emotional as best as they can, and harnessing adrenaline in a way other than in war abroad or in the rat race. Dee Snider of Twisted Sister read Vogue magazine for god's sake!). Vice Versa was done for women - who probably have their own, independent animus (male spirit). Thus, feminism proved itself to me to be a radical offshoot of civil rights (why was there no "Negroism"? Unless you count the Black Panthers - an appropriate parallel to feminism) which realized that its only mode of survival was to become full of vitriolic hatred lest it be consumed by less biased movements like egalitarianism.... Yes, indeed, it is easy to invalidate feminism and its illegitimate offspring (misandry, solipsism, vanity, coyness and greed, etc....) with some logic. But, in the end, you know, there is something wrong. All you are doing, at best, is to bring us back to square one - back to the traditional oppressive gender role for men that led us to feminism in the first place. And you are not even doing a good job at chinking the feminist armor even, b/c your article is on this blog, invisible to society's movers and shakers. In the end, you are showing me that the only choice is to join feminists and be the enemy, or go back to the self-deprecating gender role of the past that led us to feminism in the first place, and was never really that fair anyway (I never remember choosing to be a man, having to shovel sh*t instead of be a secretary, change tires and handle caustic chemicals instead of write plays, or risk my life getting bitten by venomous spiders instead of finish a paper on combinatorics or functional analysis - the choice was made for me, and it did not help that my mother is such a rigid businesswoman who never was much for stereotypical nurturing) - In essence, a double-bind. Either I risk my life to save others, and get vilified by all but a few, or I don't risk my life, and get vilified by the few, and still lambasted as useless and deadbeat. What's the point? When I do something I am a patriarchal oppressor who dies, and when I do nothing, I'm a deadbeat? Is there a contradiction? I'm not that strong, tall, or usefully masculine to be honest. I have two scars from hernia and varicocele (a condition that affects 30% of men) surgeries that would make me more of a bother in an emergency or sticky situation since I would most likely end up ripping those scars after heavy lifting. I'm not one to climb into spider-infested pits, either. That said, do you still love me? Do you still think I'm so great? Or am I trash that belongs with the feminists? I have to kill myself just to get the respect of one blogger, and still be vilified by most of society? I may as well just give up and be useless, and work on my kill total in "Halo 3" until I starve from lack of Doritos - at least then I can just ignore the feministing that would go on anyway even if I did good things, and gain some temporary joy. Ultimately, having a Y chromosome (as in "Why do I have this chromosome? Oh, WHY?") is the Original Sin whose blood stains the Tabula Rasa.... My point is, instead of lauding men for soldiering through their oppressive gender role despite feminist largesse, You should rebuke the feminists more proactively, and also show men that there is another way. Just as women shouldn't have to be "barefoot and pregnant", so men shouldn't have to be "bloody and eviscerated" just to prove themselves. This goes for all of the MRM. There is a LOT of work to do, in awakening the unawakened animus and anima hidden within, and actually evoking REAL change, not just a reversion to the sh*tty gender role that led us to feminism in the first place. Stop wasting your time lauding ppl who give their lives to save others - there are better things to do, like what I just said, for until we truly learn the nature of our problems, and confront them without buying into "Operation:Mindcrime" style movements, those men will have died in VAIN - serving a corrupt system whose enmity is earned by the existential fact that there is NO reason why we should be here other than to serve Gods that may not exist, or our selfish Genetics who wish to survive for what reason? Why do we strive to live and reproduce, when we must cause so much destruction and consumption in the first place? So that... our future generations can survive and reproduce. Life is like a wheel, a sunlight falls on the steel. THEY, our owners, are perched on top of us from birth 'til death, they have us, they control us. I'm not talking about you-know-who, I speak of THEM. Those who keep the cycle of impassioned yet irrelevant survival passions churning within and manipulating the human spirit that does not seem to gain anything from reproducing or dying old rather than young. Much more is to be done than simply lauding the courage of the phony tough and crazy brave who run into burning buildings yet can't even stand up for their inalienable rights in life. Work which may extend WELL beyond social criticism, into realms that Einstein, Arthur C. Clarke, H.G. Wells, Pauling, Poincare, Nostradamus and other fools of the same ilk could never have imagined undertaking even in their most Infinite Dreams. I hope this absurd post gets published, and it is not written in vain.
Today I read that scientists have cloned a female mouse from two other female mice. Some nutcase feminists think this means there can be a world without men.
That's one of the bleakest things I can imagine. A world without men is not a world I'd want to live in.
Aww. :) My boyfriend is designated spider catcher in our house, even though he's nearly as scared as I am. It's the little things that make people wonderful.
You are a gem! KIM. Thank you very much!
Yes indeed you are equal but different, which is something to be cherished!
